Consumer electronics is a huge business, and mobile phones are a major part of that business as it is the most searched for product in that market. It comes as no surprise to us that Apple (AAPL) is the top brand when it comes to mobile phones.
Richard Seymour, a UK Client Intelligence Analyst has been looking more closely in to this and has decided to write an extensive article on the subject. Hitwise UK has developed a great tool, The Hitwise Hot Consumer Electronics List to analyze search data for consumer electronics in the UK.
In recent week of doing the study, they could tell right away that mobile phones was the most searched for consumer electronics product, accounting for almost 30% of the searches. The top search was the Apple (AAPL) iPhone, as this had 1 in 12 mobile phone searches. The iPhone has been surpassed on the odd occasion, which was during the launch of a new mobile phone.
One of those phones was the Nokia (NOK) 5800 XpressMusic, this had the largest number of mobile phone searches on February 14 at 6.6%, this has now fallen to 4.7% where it remains. Other phone brands that appear in the top 10 include LG (066570), Panasonic (6752), Samsung (005930) and Sony (SNE)
