Jaguar XJ specs rumored
By: Peter Chubb | March 19, 2009 | Leave a CommentJaguar are in need of something special to help them out of its financial troubles, and they are hoping that the radical new XJ will be able to do it if for them. The new model will be revealed in London this July, a year before the car goes into production. Not much is known about the new model yet, but we have managed to get hold of a few specs for you, thanks to Autocar.
The Jaguar was once the car to have for top executives, but the Germans have taken over that role. Jaguar owners Tata Motors Ltd, (TTM) are hoping that the new styling, engines and lightweight alloy construction will help to bring in a new customer base.
The top of the range XJR is to be powered by a direct-injection 5.0-litre V8, pushing out 503bhp. The best engine in the range will be the new twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 diesel, which will produce 271bhp. Fuel economy is thought to be in the region of 40mpg, which is not that bad for an engine of that size.
