iPhone OS 3.0 firmware: April 17 release date rumor

I found out today from a buddy, that works for AT&T, that they sent him to training for the iPhone OS 3.0. He said that they told him that the 3.0 update will add the ability to take video as well as greatly improving the cell signal with AT&T. Where I live the cell signal sucks, so I’m very happy about that. He also told me that the release date is going to be 6/12/09. Can’t wait!

Somebody leaves a comment letting know that is coming out on April 17th and you guys believe it after Apple said that is going to be released in June? Must be a very well trusted user Anyway, love the blog.

Not sure if this means anything, but I randomly got a text from AT&T on my iPhone this morning with the following:

Well, 2.2.1 that’s on the website has been out for awhile, right? Maybe some screw up with AT&T or an accidental early release?

If you check the apple waebsite it specifically says April 17 the question is will it be free cause it also says that it has 100 new “apls” whatever that means.

I got the same text/email yesterday afternoon about the update for 2.2.1

leaf trombome by smule just came out on the app store and it was show cased at the 3.0 unveiling. I think this puts the odds of 3.0 coming out tomorrow a little bit higher as I think smule wouldnt release leaf trombome with one of its core gameplay components (direct multiplayer) which is included in 3.0

those apls are applets, just changes they are making to the firmware. Most are minor but major ones include cut copy and past, mms and searching your iphone.

I have no clue of the actual date, but I am excited about the new improved Iphone. I just got the 3g two weeks ago, not knowing that they were coming out with a new on so soon. So you better believe I will trade this one in asap. The ATT sales person didnt even tell me that they had a new one coming out. I definitely asked!! NOT COOL……

Sorry to spoil the bubbles but apple is NOT coming out with a new iphone. They are just releasing an update for both the 2g and 3g models

at&t nor apple will say anything about a new iphone, then nobody will buy the 3g…officially there is no such thing as a 3rd version of the iphone so their gonna say no…it wont be official til june 8 at WWDC this summer…then it will probably be to the public in late june/early-mid july like usual…but announcement should be june 8

Well its the 18th were i am and i’ve been clicking check for update every hour so either its coming out late here in australia or its just not out anywhere yet, probably the later because nothing on the apple website recognizes any release yet.

a AT&T sales person is the one who first told me about the 3.0 update and when i heard about the features i was excited to say the least. he also mentioned that the update was suppose to be released april 20th but that obviously hasn’t happened.

I am sure they will be coming out with a new phone. They have a whole presentation on the NEW Iphone. Go check it out on the apple.com website. Yes if you have the 3G you can get the software updates, but the new hardware will be upgraded soon as well.

Apple is still very quiet about iPhone 3rd version. Nobody knows about it. Apple haven’t spoken a word about it’s new phone. But macrumors.com says we can see in our hands in august. But for sure you can see presentation of OS 3.0 in apple site which shall be expected in June.

That’s funny considering here at ATT we do NOT send anyone to training for Apple iPhone OS related concerns. It also seems funny because the improved signal can really only be accomplished at the tower and not so much at the device. Oh and video? hmmmm Where?

For starters… the whole thing was a “rumor”. For anyone to get their hopes up over a rumor or begin to claim it as fact is just plan stupid. ATT knows nothing more than the general public on OS related issues. As for the new phone… who cares, I’m interested in their very large touchscreens they purchased. This could mean a very cool tablet!

Maybe you should watch it again Are you referring to “streaming video” because that’s not the same as “recording video”. MMS doesn’t even support sending video on the iPhone. I didn’t see a single hint at “recording” video nor have I seen it in the SDK or the beta OS (the latest beta 5). Why don’t you give me the exact minute and second in the video that you see this?

Also notice that all the claims to video are simply rumors. I’m not saying they never will or do not have the capability of doing this. But if they “do” plan on releasing it, they’re keeping it out of the betas until the final release.

For any news or release date of Iphone firmware 3.0, just go to cnet.com and everything you need that is legit will be posted there.

Just to set things straight, if I spelled that correctly, Iphone OS 3.0 will be released on June 8th 2009. I work at Apple corporate in California. This software will be availible for download directly following the conference. I reccomend dowloading the software at 6:00 because that was the least congested download time last year.

I work at Orange, we have been informed that Iphone 3.0 will be released this week (June 08 – June 15), Apple did not said the exact date, but it will be released for sure this week!

Release date June 17th… not the 12th. No video support in the OS for current iPhones, only the new iPhone 3GS (with MMS support). No increase in signal strength for 3G, however, there “might” be for the 3GS but again this depends almost “ENTIRELY” on tower locations and quantities. If you want more “proof”, just wait a day for the video to be posted directly on Apple’s website. So there it is… the “ass” has given you the FACTS. Buh bye!

Oh wait one quick side-note… the OS3.0 available “today” (June 8th) is NOT the full release. It’s a “PARTIAL” release for Developers only as stated by Apple Developer Support and the WWDC2009.

Yes… as I stated, iPhone 3GS “ONLY”. Not the (now old) iPhone 3G. Everything that was referenced was referenced for the 3GS and nothing was stated about the same features being supported on the iPhone 3G. If I’m wrong I’m wrong… I’m just going by what Apple has publicly mentioned.

Ok. Just to inform people who dont know.. The iPhone been and has video recording for a while now..SO! after that being said, if you HEAR the “old” iphones (not 3GS) have video recording, THEY DO! **ONLY IF JAILBROKEN**.. NOW WAIT!, since 3.0 is coming out, we are going to have to see if our developers working with Jailbreaking can make the video recording compatible because im on the iphone 3.0 beta v3 of 5 and it does not work (obviously) because the firmware is different!

17th June 2009. Apple Website says 3.0 download available 17th June 2009….. Where’s the download ??? I even spent the time updating the i-Tunes on my PC to 8.2 as suggested… Pfffttt. I suppose 17th June may not be the 17th June all over the world, I’ll just have to wait for the US to wake up

And before anyone flames in… I’ve been talking to a few friends who own the 3G and they are claiming video works (video recording that is). Now I haven’t actually seen this demonstrated but I could be proven wrong here and that’s fine… I’ll wait until I actually see it before I claim defeat. LOL
