Infiniti readying a direct-injection system for its 3.7-liter V6
By: Peter Chubb | March 19, 2009 | Leave a CommentThere have been reports that Infiniti are preparing a direct-injection system for its 3.7-liter V6, and it is thought that they will introduce the engine in to its G37 coupe and sedan before the new G model arrives in three years time.
According to Car and Driver, a twin-turbocharged version of the 3.7-liter direct-injected V6, which was originally shown in the Essence concept looks, set to be the powerplant in the redesigned M – due in 2010. Reports suggest that this engine will push out 340 to 350 horsepower, but it will not come with the twin turbos.
Infiniti know that it needs something special to be able to compete with the likes of Audi (NSU), BMW, Lexus (TM) and Mercedes-Benz (DAI) an they hope that the new version of its G and M series will do just that.
