NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA) has announced that they have signed a tools and middleware license agreement for the Sony (SNE) PS3 with Sony Computer Entertainment Inc (SCEI). So what does this mean, well it means that the binary version of the NVIDIA® PhysX® technology software development kit will now be made available to registered PlayStation 3 developers. The download is free.
The NVIDIA PhysX technology SDK consists of a full-featured API as well as a robust physics engine. This technology will give developers, artists, animators and level designers greater creative control over character and object physical interactions.
The end result is that this will allow them to author and preview the physics effects in real time. The adoption of NVIDIA PhysX technology by content developers are leading to greater results from our games, as they are starting to look more realistic than ever.
