Today’s Apple event is not just about what the iPhone users get from the new firmware, but also what the developers can do for the iPhone user with the new iPhone SDK (version 3.0).
Apple (AAPL) reported that they have added over 1,000 new API functions with the new iPhone SDK v3.0. These include: Streaming audio, GPS Lingo, In app e-mail, Text selection, Battery API, In-game Voice, iPod Library access and Shake API.
One of the changes that may upset some users could be the ability for developers to charge for subscriptions in the applications. How do you feel about monthly fees with some iPhone games?
