It is no secret that we are now in a recession; as a result, we have all been forced to cut back on new items that we wish to buy. One item that we change often is a laptop, prices have been coming down fast, but how good are they. The world’s cheapest laptop, the Impulse NPX-9500 is a fine example of this.
Engadget were lucky enough to get their hands on a review unit of the NPX-9500 laptop, which runs on Windows XP. They noticed that the device beeped continuously for several minutes when they first turned it on.
The laptop runs on a 1GHz no-name processor, and certainly seems to struggle running Internet Explorer on a bad day. The review unit also had a loud howling sound; Engadget found that the problem was due to an always-on microphone, causing a feedback through the speakers.
