YouTube has begun blocking music videos to UK users
By: Peter Chubb | March 12, 2009 | Leave a CommentIf you are a resident of the UK and have visited YouTube today, then you would have noticed that the website has started to block music videos. YouTube have failed to reach an agreement with PRS, as they wanted more music royalties.
We all know about the story, as it has been headline news for some time now. YouTube say that they were being asked to pay more money in royalties; a figure that they said was much higher than the previous agreement.
PRS has reacted to YouTube’s decision to take action without consulting them. Watching music videos on YouTube is big business, and is great for music fans, now music videos from independent and major labels will no longer be available in the UK.
This result means that none of the artist will get any revenue, something that is bread and butter to some of the small artists.
