T-Mobile: Cupcake Android update on G1 next month

It has been confirmed by T-Mobile that they will offer the Android Cupcake software update to their G1 handset in April. The update will mean that G1 owners will get an onscreen keyboard along with a host of other new features. T-Mobile hopes that Cupcake update will help with the performance of its handset.

Some of the new features in the OS upgrade include the ability to save MMS attachments, voice recorder, video recording and stereo Bluetooth. The update will be made available at the same time as HTC magic hits stores; this will also support the Cupcake software version.

Pocket-Lint reported last month that the HTC Magic will be available in April, but will be on the Vodafone network in the UK, This is perfect timing for the Easter break, Vodafone hope that this handset will be able to compete with the Apple iPhone. Only time will tell.
