Should the Xbox 360 get PS3′s Killzone 2 or 3?

Should the Xbox 360 get PS3′s Killzone 2 or 3?

By: Peter Chubb | March 12, 2009 | 31 Comments

There is no question that Killzone 2 is an amazing game, and that it is an exclusive for the Sony PS3. There are already rumors of a Killzone 3 which will also be for the PlayStation 3, but could it makes its way over to the Xbox 360?

When Bioshock was launched, that was exclusive to the Xbox 360 and PC, that games took over a year to makes its way to the PlayStation 3 but it got there. This does prove that games can in fact become un-exclusive at times.

If you are an Xbox 360 gamer, I do not want to start any sort of war between the PS3 and the Xbox 360. I know that the 360 has some great games, but Killzone 2 or 3 would make a great addition to them.

I would like to ask all those Xbox fans out there if they would like to see Killzone makes its way to their preferred games console.

We have a poll running asking if Killzone 3 should be on the 360, which you can see below. To vote click here.

It won’t come to 360 because its published by Sony. Moron.

Killzone was written in house. Theres as much chance of the 360 getting Killzone, as the PS3 setting Halo.

Thats the idea of exclusives. They are kind of, well… exclusive.

    Moron.

With both consoles pretty much equal in performance and both with strong install bases it is plain stubborn stupidity to produce games as pure exclusives considering the cost of development. Why deny yourself the extra sales and profits? It is a well known fact that Sony and MS make their gaming profits from software sales and licenses. So why not release a game on both consoles, albeit with a time difference of say 6 months? Imagine, Gears and Halo on the PS3 and LBP or MGS on the 360.

  • Mornelithe

Call it stubborn stupidity if you desire, but plain facts are, MS is playing this game, Sony’s only using their internal devs to their advantage. Maybe….MAYBE if MS wasn’t buying exclusivity left and right, maybe, it’d be ‘stubborn and stupid’, facts are. If Sony allows it’s 1st part devs to develope for the 360, there would be no reason to buy a PS3.

Likewise, there’s no reason to buy a 360, because all of the 360 games end up coming out on PC anyway, with vastly superior hardware scaling. Whereas, again, Sony games, never come out on PC.

So, lesson here is, buy a PS3, sell your 360, and put together a gaming PC.

ps3 is doing it – killzone is EPIC what a game!

    glad i own an almighty ps3 ;o)

  • Lon

I own all three systems and I can say if I happened to only own a Xbox 360 I would not be interested in Killzone 2, ignore the hype people. The game looks nice but it controls like a dump truck, it’s just not fun. The only reason I own a PS3 at this point is because of the amazing Blu-ray player and a couple games. Trust me 360 owners Halo 3 alone is still a more fun experience that Killzone 2.

”Trust me 360 owners Halo 3 alone is still a more fun experience that Killzone 2.”

Im struggling to understand that last part Lon!! :) How can you justify that?

  • http://psnation.org Torgo

Sony owns Guerrilla Games, and Sony publishes the Killzone titles, so it’ll never go to a different platform. Way to do your research!!!!!

    Here’s what I think of that article…

This article is a mis-representation of facts. You have used old data before recent events and posted it as what going on now. I own neither of these consoles and much prefer the PC, but what you are doing is no different to what anybody else is doing.

The fact is compared to what it did last time, the xbox has drawn more people to it in this generation, as has Nintendo which mean that Sony has lost some of its fan base. If you showed the first Xbox in the charts this would be realized, but you have deliberately left it out. What the chart would then show is that the difference between PS2 & PS3 sales has been taken up mostly by Nintendo and partly by the 360. A new system from Sony the last Gen king was hardly going to not sell at all was it? The PS3 is selling by brand name alone and it will be nowhere near what the PS2 did.

The above is in reply to the comment below. I did click the reply button on the comment, I really did!

You are assuming the 360 can handle the superior graphics of Killzone2? It would not be able to be directly ported, unlike if the game was coming from the xbox to the PS3… this will become more evident as the years tick by and the PS3 starts to demonstrate the far greater graphical power it has.

Killzone2 for the xbox? don’t think microsoft’s baby could take it!

  • erocker

well both consoles are based of of directx 9.0, so still impressive buti dont think we will see truley next gen until the next systems arrive. still amazing what they are getting out of directx 9.0, K2 is simply amazing, and no way wil it come to 360, good point was that you will enver see Halo or GoW on ps3.

  • ray

I find it interesting that even when the developers state that the game they made wouldn’t be possible on the 360, xbots still start rumors that it will be coming to the 360. Guerilla Games stated that they only used 60% of the PS3s power with killzone 2 and that it would be possible on 360 and will be aiming to use even more of of the PS3’s power for killzone 3. So if killzone 2 is too much for the 360 what in the world would make you think killlzone 3 would run on the 360. Xbots did the same thing with Metal Gear Solid 4. Kojima said it wouldn’t be possible on xbox yet the rumors were started that it was coming to xbox. 360 has its exclusives and the PS3 has its exclusives. That’s just the way it is. im tired of PS3 games being dumbed down so they can run on the 360. Get over it. the PS3 is just a better system then the 360 and first party developers are finally starting to figure out how to bring out its full potential. If you want Killzone 2 or 3 or Metal Gear Solid 4, go buy a PS3.

The PS3 is already out selling the 360 by an average of about 140,000 units a month. Since the 360’s launch, Nov 2005 they have sold 28 million world wide(many of them rebuys due to hardware failure), that’s about 777,000 a month for 36 months. The PS3 has sold 22 million world wide since Nov 2006, that’s about 916,000 a month on average for 24 months. Its on pace to out sell the 360 in its life cycle. The bs about the 360 doing better is Xbot fanyboy spin. Do the math retards.

  • jimbo

There’s no way the XBox could handle the graphics. One of the reasons that the XBox keeps on overheating and getting the Red Ring of Death is because it’s trying to push graphics it can’t really handle.

Anyway, other than the visuals, Kilzone is just another shooter. Are XBox gamers really so starved of this genre that they need yet another bunch of dumbass space marines shooting bad guys?

  • JuanDHexen

I think you said it backwards, I was extremely disappointed with halo 3 Is almost the same shit as halo 2 they berly changed anything, I much rather play halo 2 than 3.

  • Barry

Sounds to me like you are the one doing the fanboy spin as official figure do not show what you are saying. I own neither of these systems and dont want to, but I also am against BS being spread around. The link you show is based upon what? Figures obtained from where? I could quite easily go and create something like that. Neither of these sytems has won anything, and the fanboys are left squabbling over 2nd, yes 2nd place!

Killzone 2 looks nice, but it is not what it is being made out to be and most honest reviews attribute to that. While the Xbox 360 has its issues (bad as they may be), the re-buy comment you make is totally unfounded. You should try posting proven facts and not rely on the BS you read that has been created by others. For every comment you make regarding this there are about 10 saying the exact opposite, think about it.

Sorry but I just dont like it when people try to convince people using rubbish or should I say garbage!

  • Barry

You also base your previos opinion on what one developer has said. I have also heard other developer saying the complete opposite. An opinion is just an opinion whereas fact is proven by facts.

  • ray

the chart and the world wide sales tally is based on the NDP averages idiot. do the fuckin math moron. MS has sold 28 mil since nov 2005. thats just a little over 3 years on the market. whats 28 mil % by 36 months? on average thats about 777,000 a month world wide. Sony has sold 22 mil world wide since nov 2006. thats 24 months averages out to 916,000 a month. Do the math dip shit.

Looks like someone is in a mood!!! Never mind, you really should try and calm down, its only console wars! LOL!!!

  • citran

Just to rub it in … make a “not as good version”( lower graphics/shorter campain/ no online warzone) for the x360.

just to taunt them … saying if you want the real thing get a PS3

  • Barry

Well, fellow human being you should really try and notice where you get your facts from, DOH! Just because they appear on an okay website, it does not mean they are the opinion of that website. The media if you did not realize publish statements made by others, hence Sony themselves in this case.

  • Mornelithe

Ya’ll are missing the point, whether the PS3 is better than the 360 is irrelevant. In a years time, most PC’s will rock them both. Currently, mine does. I have a PS3, because Sony 1st party games (and allot of 3rds), never actually hit the PC (sans emulation). Whereas, 99.9% of 360 ‘exclusives’ hit Windows w/in 6 months to a year, with better hardware scaling, DX10, FSAA etc…etc…etc… The list of pros continues down several thousand more pages.

  • GEeezzyyyyyy

DOes anyone really think the xbox can handle it, MGS4 is no even possible on an xbox without 10 CDS or so. Either killzone is on PS3 and its here to stay. It like halo coming to PS3, it not happening, at least it will come to my PC.

  • HellzHere

ummmmm… 360 can handle gears 2.. thats like the best graphical game right now. So not much of a problem to handle K2

Btw i got K2, and wow was it crap, what a waste of hype that was.

  • stephen hoult

I cant see killzone 2 or any other sequel for that matter being on 360, due to sony owns it and the game will have to be on 4 dvds or some dual layered disk.

But these days i believe that there are a hand few exclusives out there that will never be a multi format as these games are what made/makes the console, so cant see the becoing unexclusives

Also believe 360 has only got LIVE going for it and PS3 blu ray.

  • dethroned3

this is an incredibility moronic article.
first of all, kz2 and Guerrilla Games are owned by sony.

    whoever wrote this article,
has he been living under rocks these past
    four years?

the original kz2 trailer established so
much controversy and hype it’s impossible for
the average gamer not to know kz2 is
    first party software.

  • product reviews net sucks

It’s a SONY GAME, made by SONY DEVELOPERS, PUBLISHED BY SONY.

    Short answer: LULZ

  • gamertod

This is a very stupid article. Sony owns the company that made killzone so it will NEVER….repeat NEVER be on the 360. This would have been a much better article had you chose a game like Metal Gear.

Secondly, when it comes to many of the exclusives, it is very expense to later move them over especially if they started on the 360. They have to almost redeisgn the entire game. Killzone could run on the 360, but they would have to dumb down the game alittle bit for the 360 to handle it. Now don’t take this as “I am saying the 360 is weaker than the ps3″ just that the great thing about exclusives is that they are designed to take full advantage of the strong points for that console. For that reason Gears2 would have to be dumbed down is some ways if were ported to the ps3.
