Palm Pre European Exclusivity: Follows Blackberry Storm and iPhone battle
By: Peter Chubb | March 12, 2009 | Leave a CommentIt is no secret that the hottest phone this year is the Palm Pre (PALM), and it has not even been released yet. Could you imagine the meetings going on with all the big carriers in Europe to try to be the ones to secure the new Palm Pre. We all remember the same battle that RIM (RIMM) faced with the BlackBerry Storm and Apple (AAPL) with its iPhone.
There are rumors from Spanish media which reports that Telefonica have now locked a deal with Palm to launch the Pre, not just for Spain but also for the UK, as they own O2. Telefonica also own Movistar, so Latin America will also be getting the Palm Pre.
If rumors are in fact true, then this will be a blow for rival Vodafone, although they have the Storm / Magic many perceive the Palm Pre to be a much better handset. If these rumors are true, then this could prove competition for the iPhone as this is also on the O2 network.
