Mitsubishi reveals it’s ’3D’ Touch Panel device
By: Alan Ng | March 12, 2009 | Leave a CommentMitsubishi has revealed a 3D touch panel device which detects the movement of your finger towards the screen, even without actually pressing the screen. It is just in prototype form at the moment, but this technology could led to all sorts of new and exciting interface options.
The device was demonstrated in Tokyo, at Interaction 2009 on March 5th and 6th. Mitsubishi has given the device it’s ’3D’ nickname as it allows z- (normal direction) coordinate, as well as -x and -y, interesting stuff.
The company hope to use this new technology in mobile phones sometime in the near future. You can read the whole story over at Techon and view some more pictures of the device in action.
