Halo Wars is currently selling record numbers for a console RTS. The game debuted at number two in the UK All Formats Chart, becoming the fastest selling real-time strategy game on the Xbox 360 to date.
In an article over at GameZine, they ask the question, ‘were consumers duped into buying Halo Wars?’ They explain that the successes of Halo Wars could be down to a majority of fans buying the game thinking that it is just another entry in the Halo FPS series, and not an RTS.
The RTS genre itself though on a console cannot be questioned at the moment though. Only this week saw Empire:Total War knock PS3 FPS Killzone 2 off top spot, with Halo Wars still in 5th place. With Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 in the mix, console RTS games might be a genre which is now starting to become very popular with Xbox 360 and PS3 owners.

congratulations, very good game
What’s MS gonna do when people stop sucking on the Halo teat?
Morne
Mornelithe - MS has plenty of games besides Halo, the question is what will PS3 do when they run out of God of War.
Halo Wars is an awesome game, I never could get into RTS games until I tried this demo and NO, Halo fans were not duped into thinking this was an FPS, MS and Bungie and Ensemble have been very clear.
LOL @ The Guy
You sound rather defensive… Nobody in this particular thread directly brought up the PS3, except for you. Sounds to me you’re a sucker for flamebait. LOL Anyway, I played Halo Wars and I think it sucked, so I traded it in at Gamestop. Now Halo, will the real Halo please stand up… Waiting for ODS
