Sony PSN: The ultimate entertainment platform with NBC Universal lineup
By: Alan Ng | March 11, 2009 | Leave a CommentSony has announced that it has added NBC Universal’s movies and TV shows to it’s growing database of media content which is available to rent or purchase directly from the Playstation Network onto your PS3 console for instant viewing.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the deal will see Sony’s collection boosted to 1,300 movies and 4,500 TV shows. The deal with universal will see movies like Hellboy II: The Golden Army” and “The Incredible Hulk” become available.
Sony is clearly trying to match Microsoft as their Xbox 360 console already has NBC Universal movies at their disposal. Sony also have quite a bit of catching up to do in terms of figures, as the Xbox 360 currently has around 30,000 of movies and shows compared to Sony’s 5,800.
Looks like owners of each console have a lot of things to look forward to this year as Sony and Microsoft battle it out for media dominance. What do you think?
