
Ford’s New Milestone: 100,000th hybrid SUV
By: Peter Chubb | March 11, 2009 | Leave a CommentFord Motor Company (NYSE:F) are now celebrating the production of its 100,000th hybrid SUV, and has said that they will increase its commitment to the production of hybrid vehicles in 2009. It was five years ago when Ford launched the Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner hybrid SUVs and these are still the most fuel most fuel-efficient SUVs on the market.
Ford dealers are now getting ready to begin selling the 2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan hybrids, these vehicles will become the most fuel-efficient midsize sedans in America. The Ford Escape Hybrid SUV and Mercury Mariner Hybrid deliver 31MPG city and 34MPG on the highway.
The new Fusion Hybrid and Milan Hybrid will deliver 41MPG city driving and 36MPG on the highway. Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant produces these hybrids, and because of the specially trained employees and flexible manufacturing processes, these hybrids can be built on the same production line as the conventional Escape and Mariner SUVs.
