Google Android v1.1 Firmware For G1: Fixes and improvements
By: Peter Chubb | March 10, 2009 | Leave a CommentGoogle (NASDAQ:GOOG) makes it possible for us to purchase an unlocked T-Mobile G1 / HTC Dream. The way in which you can do is by purchasing one of Google’s Android Dev 1 devices, these cost $400 as well as a few fees. Many consumers have held back in doing this because of the frequency of OS updates.
The problem that concerned people most was the non-access to Paid Apps, thankfully Google and HTC have now resolved this issue with Version 1.1 of Android, the new firmware for the Android Dev Phone. This new update fixes a number of issues as well as making a few improvements.
Most of the improvements made center around the POP3 e-mail accounts, this will make Dev Phone 1 users very happy. A number of API changes have also been made. Developers will now be happy that they can now see Paid Apps on the market.
Improvements include:
- Alarm Clock Fixes
- Fixes mail notifications and refreshing intervals
- Maps now show business reviews
- Priced Apps
- Sending Gmail freeze fixed
- Support for Search by Voice
