Engadget did not make any secret of their love for the rugged Latitude E6400 ATG, but now they have found a new love, the Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) Latitude E6400 XFR. This latest model continues the traditions of the Latitude XFR D630, although it is more visually amped up than their business models.
What makes the XFR so great is the fact that it can handle the DoD’s MIL-STD 810F heat, dust and vibration requirements. It does not stop there; the tough new Latitude has been fitted with the PR481 “ballistic” armor, which provides twice as much armor protection of magnesium alloy. The notebook is also very well sealed, meaning that it can handle direct blasts of pressurized water.
The Dell Latitude E6400 XFR comes with a Core 2 Duo processor and a 256MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M as well as an integrated Intel 4500MHD. The WXGA display is 14.1 inches and the notebook is 2.2-inches thick, and weighs in at 8.5-pound. There is no detailed pricing yet, but it looks as though you will not get much change from $4,299.
