By: Peter Chubb | March 9, 2009 | Leave a CommentThose of you with Windows XP will be felling a bit down, as Microsoft’s DirectX 11 (6.01.7000.0000) will only be made available for Windows 7 and Vista in the coming months. According to Megaleecher.net, virus creators know how curious gamers are, so have decided to invite them to download the latest version of DirectX 11.
The download that these virus makers offer gamers is fake and is infected with a Trojan. These fake downloads creates a perl scripts which managed to get detected by three not well named anti-virus scanners on VirusTotal, that is out of a list of 39.
Once you launch the installer the Trojan then gets to work, it is extracted and then trys to connect to the Internet. If you are one of those users who fell for the trap, then your computers could be infected with “W32.Gaobot” Trojan.
