It was a happy moment for iPhone and iPod Touch owners when Jay Freeman released Cydia, this is the software installer for jailbroken iPhone OS. On Saturday 7, 2009 the Cydia store was launched, allowing developers to sell their apps for jailbroken iPhone and iPod Touch devices.
This new store will allow independent developers to sell their apps outside of Apple’s App Store. For those of you who do not know what jailbreaking means, it is a process that enables an iPhone OS-based device to do away with the rights of management for privilege escalation. This then allows users to install applications that have been developed by independent developers and have not been allowed on to Apple’s App Store.
There are a number of cool apps already available on the Cydia application installer, such as Cycoder. This app will turn your iPhone or iPod Touch into a camcorder. How about PdaNet, this will turn your iPhone into a Wi-Fi hotspot, this is done by using the data connection.
