Nokia 5800 3G reception issues now fixed

We spoke yesterday that Nokia were working on a new firmware update that would hopefully fix the 3G reception issues on the Nokia 5800. Well we can now tell you that the fix is now official, it seems that a configuration change was responsible for the problem.

It is assumed that Nokia are talking about a software-based setting of some kind. This 3G problem only affected the first batch of 5800 XpressMusics in North America. Owners are happy that Nokia were able to fast track a firmware upgrade.

New units with the upgraded firmware will go on sale shortly, while customers who already own a Nokia 5800 are being asked to contact Nokia’s customer care or just visit a flagship store and have them exchange the device.
