Apple 17-inch MacBook Pro problems from NVIDIA’s GeForce 9600M

If you have taken possession of an Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) 17-inch MacBook Pro with the new NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) GeForce 9600M, then you will not be very happy to learn of some disturbing news. It seems that there are some problems with the graphics.

It is hard to know who to blame, is it a problem with Apple or is it NVIDIA’s problem. The problem that users are getting is random green lines as well as nasty artifacts appearing on the screen, this shows up when the powerful card is booted into action.

A number of Apple 17-inch MacBook Pro owners say that a reboot solves the issue, for a while anyway and then it appears again like an unwanted guest in your home. It is not certain if a simple firmware upgrade will solve the issue.

Let us know if you have experienced any problems with your NVIDIA GeForce 9600M graphics card.

I have this issue does any 1 know when we can expect some sort of fix for this, I wont be playing games in case any damage is incurred over long use and this is a serious inconvenience to be honest!

I had the same problem; took it to the Mac store where they verified the problem and then replaced the driver for free.
