Sprint’s Palm Treo Pro: Specs confusion explained
By: Peter Chubb | March 5, 2009 | Leave a CommentThere have been a whole load of confusion about the specs and upgrade for the Sprint (NASDAQ:PALM) Palm Treo Pro, most of which is to do with IE Mobile 6. There are a number of ROMs that are unable to handle the new browser, but Sprint say that the Palm Treo Pro can handle the heft of the new browser.
Sprint’s new version of the Treo Pro will come with the update browser, but it seems that the GSM version will not have the official upgrade. We know that the new browser requires 128MB of RAM and a 400MHz core, but it seems that there is more to it than that.
The reason why the GSM version will not have the upgraded browser is to do with IE Mobile 6′s unwieldy footprint. It seems that it is very hard to bundle the software into an easy-to-distribute CAB, which makes it a better fit for an entire load of Windows Mobile than an update.
