India 3G News: BSNL flips the switch

If you are a resident of Ambala, India, then you will need to pay close attention to their overage charges. With the recent launch of MTNL, fellow network carrier BSNL has now flipped the switch and is now offering a 3G service.

The new service is only limited to the Ambala area, it is not certain how long it will be before other regions will follow. The data rates are as follows, between 2 and 3 rupees per megabyte, this is about 3 to 5 cents. Looking at those figures, that is a superb deal.

Ambala should feel privileged that they are now getting the 3G service from BSNL, getting the service to that area took a while, and red tape within the Indian government will mean that BSNL 3G going national could be a long while yet.
