Apple iMac’s standard wired keyboard: no more numeric keypad

With so many new products coming from Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) today, something was almost missed. Thanks to an Engadget reader, we have learned that Apple’s iMac standard keyboard no longer comes with a numeric keypad.

This is the same design as the wireless model, which also lacks the numeric keypad. This wired version has USB plugs on each end. The old keyboard has not gone anywhere; you just have to make certain that you configure your new purchase when you make your order.

The upgrade is free, the new Mac Pro ships with the regular keypad. It is not certain why Apple have decided to change the keyboards, it just makes no sense at all, maybe they have done away with the numeric keypad for those who have a small desk at work.
