Xbox 360 ahead of PS3 and Nintendo Wii in Japan

Fresh figures from the Japanese Hardware Charts today has seen the Xbox 360 climb straight to the top, outselling the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3 in the process.
The numbers over at DigitalSpy reveal that the Xbox rose to the top with 25,334 units, the Nintendo Wii in second place with 16,973 units and the Playstation 3 trailing in third with 16,149 units.
On a side note, spare a thought for Sony, as it looks as if the Playstation 2 is on it’s last legs with only 5029 units sold, maybe we’ll see a ‘ultra-slim’ PS2 console revision as a last resort.
After a long period of trying to crack the Asian market, it looks as if the Japanese are finally starting to embrace Microsoft’s console.

it’s about time
Cool, but it has happened before. It doesn’t really mean much but if it means there will be more japanese made games on the 360 than that puts a smile on my face.
Bit of a misleading title, the 360 is MILES from catching the PS3 or the Wii in Japan. You don’t even reference what period these figures were taken from or what Japanese focussed releases happened in that time period!
Articles like this make me laugh, blogs pick up some weekly sales figures in a week the 360 has a big JRPG release and announce that the 360 is a big hit in Japan. But never mention all the other weeks when it’s in last place in sales. They also never mention that when the PS3 has a big Japanese focussed release it makes back any minor gains the 360 makes three-fold!
This is one of the most poorly written articles about the xbox, wii, and ps3 that I’ve seen. The PS2 is on its last legs you say? Well that may be true, but just 2 months ago it sold more units than any console.
I think this article was written just to give hate to Sony.
yes, the release of the new “star ocean” game exclusively for 360, besides being utterly insulting to playstation fans, has temporarily boosted 360 sales in Japan. expect MS’s console to return to last place again in a week or two.
“But never mention all the other weeks when it’s in last place in sales. They also never mention that when the PS3 has a big Japanese focussed release it makes back any minor gains the 360 makes three-fold!”
Just to prove my point in my earlier reply - where is your article proclaiming that the PS3 has outsold the 360 and Wii COMBINED in Japan this week thanks to the release of Yakuza 3???
PS3Owner: there is a story on it here..
