Sony (NYSE:SNE) have launched a new camcorder, the HDR-XR520V Handycam. The new device has a number of advancements, such as the advanced Exmor R CMOS sensor. This new lens is stunning in the way that it records 1920 x 1080 high definition video.
The Sony HDR-XR520V also comes with GPS as well as being able to take still shots with its 12.1-megapixel built-in camera. The video camera has a huge 250GB hard drive, although it would have been a huge improvement if Sony had used an SSD.
That aside the 240GB hard drive does a great job, and can store up to 101 hours of high definition video footage. Amazon have already started to sell the handy cam, and will cost $1,499, not sure if it is worth such a price, we will leave that up to you.

What resolution does this camcorder record in? The summary says 1920 x 1080, but since it doesn’t specifically say 1080p, I assume it’s 1080i, i.e, half the size.
Sony states on their website in the specification section:
Video Signal : HD: 1920 x 1080/60i; SD: NTSC color, EIA standards
