NTT DoCoMo Japan Pulls RIM BlackBerry Bold

Japan’s biggest mobile phone operator, TT DoCoMo Inc has decided to halt sales of the RIM (NASDAQ:RIMM) Blackberry Bold. The reason for halting sales of the Smartphone is because of an overheating issue, which has affected about 30 handsets.

DoCoMo have said that they have sold more than 4,000 of these Research In Motion handsets, the customers have complained that the keyboard area of the phone had heated up. The company have said that they have not had any reports of users getting burned, or the handsets catching on fire.

RIM have said that it is not a problem with the battery, but they are still looking into the problem. The issue looks to be only affecting handsets that were sold in Japan last week, sales of the Blackberry Bold in other countries seems to be unaffected.
