iRiver’s E-Book Reader: Should Kindle 2 worry?

Over the past few weeks we have heard so much about the new Kindle 2 e-book reader, but it seems that other companies want to have a piece of that action as well. iRiver Japan is hoping to make an impact on the market with their e-book reader as well.

Taking a closer look at the device, it will not win any awards in its design. Engadget are certain that the iRiver eBook is only a rebadged version of the Netronix reader, the same device that they spotted last year.

Engagdet believes that the device will be able to handle PDF, and will have a joystick control, SD card slot, as well as being compatible with music files. We are not getting too exited on this device, as it is unlikely that it will be released outside of Japan.

Does the Kindle 2 have anything to worry about I do not think so?

  1. What format does this iRiver reader support? As an a new author with a free eBook novel that was just released, Flores Girl: The Children God Forgot, I am struggling to keep up with the different formats these readers utilize.

Actually, Iriver is a Korean company. And it supports e-pub, pdf, words, and txt.
