Windows 7 shipping this September according to Compal president
By: Peter Chubb | February 26, 2009 | Leave a CommentMicrosoft Corp (MSFT.O) Steve Ballmer announced that their new operating system “Windows 7” will not be available until 2010, but Compal Electronics Inc (CMPFF.PK) president, Ray Chen has said that the OS may ship as early as this September, months before the official prediction.
This is Microsoft’s first release of an operating system since the launch of the troubled Windows Vista, which was launched in January 2007. It is hoped that the launch of Windows 7 will help to spur on dwindling PC sales.
Early tests show that Windows 7 performs much better than Vista; speeds are much faster while the interface has also shown a great improvement. I think that the 2010 date is more realistic, as this gives Microsoft time to make sure that Windows 7 will run as smooth as possible, they do not want a repeat performance of Vista.
