Palm Pre and March 15 Release Date

For everyone looking to buy the new Palm (NASDAQ:PALM) Pre Smartphone it looks like with have had so much rumor all about the same date, this can now only be seen as ALMOST fact.
Many technology sites have had different sources leaking the same release date for the Palm Pre, “March 15”.
One Product Reviews user had this to say “my close friend is a major player in cnet, chances are you have seen him on TV…lets just say he knows 5 people who already have the pre…it will be released march 15 according to his sources and some dude named boy genius…he has actually held and operated the phone and he says its amazing…smashes that crappy iPhone…its coming soon”.
While phone and tech fans make a lot of speculation as to when the Palm Pre will be released, it seems some have more solid news than others. Another PR user went to his local store and was told by the Sales Rep that it “should be in the stores no later than March 15”.
Add that to other sites like boy genius and phone dog stating that the Palm Pre release date will be March 15th, then we have an almost certainty that the Palm Pre is coming around that date. You can read a good discussion on the Palm Pre release here.

On 24 Feb 09, a Sprint rep said the Palm Pre’s release date is slated for 15 Mar 09. They didn’t know the expected price, but guestimated around $500 due to the power packed features of the phone. I told them that if the price of the phone is not at least equivalent to, or lower then the price of the IPhone, then palm could keep that “Golden Goose”. The features and style appear to be great, but if Palm is going to force people to take out a second mortgage just to purchase the phone, then they are making a big mistake in this economic environment, because the banks aren’t lending and the money trees in the back yard aren’t producing.
Even if Palm offered the phone for $250 - $299, with a 2-year contract, they will still make a good profit within a year and put Apple (IPhone) on notice. I hope they learned from the mistake Sony made with the PS3’s initial cost of $700-$800, which backfired in their face and caused more people to purchase a lower priced XBOX360 instead.
P.S. - I can not mention the rep’s name. I think the release date is a secret, and I don’t want them to get fired. There’s enough of that going on already.
Anonymous tipster,
You post this “my friend is a major player at Cnet” bull? Are you kidding?
Out of hundreds of guesses, completely made up “friend at CNET” and countless mixing up of the Palm Pre with the Palm Pre (which is scheduled for March 15), he one single leaked memo note was that was pulled from sites, and they get pulled when the are accurate and proprietary, was one noting final testing to beginning in early April.
Dan Hesse was just quote yesterday saying they are going to do their best to meet the set June 30 deadline.
This handset will be out in May or June. No earlier.
Local Sprint reps say MARCH/APRIL.
“and countless mixing up of the Palm Pre with the Palm Pre (which is scheduled for March 15)” is that right?
So the Palm Pre will be out March 15 Bill? spell check your stuff, if you don’t it seems like you don’t know anything….
I agree with Yoyoma…
I am sure you know what YOU are talking about even though you can’t spell, makes complete sense!
March 15th is the date for in-stock at best buy i was told.
I think what bill is saying is that ppl are mixing the palm prE with the palm prO. and yes ive had a sprint rep mix those up. when they told me the date for the pre i questioned “are you sure you dont mean the pro?” and they corrected themselves and said they meant the pro. no one will know for sure when the pre will be out. its just speculation. these rumors have been going around since Mid january.
the PRO is already in best buy since mid February for y’alls info!!!
WOW. It’s true!!!

Jack, I think you are the tard. That post was (clearly) a satire on the March 15 release date when leaked information shows Sprint final doesn’t start til April and this means a release May or June earliest.
The March 15th date people are getting are for the Pro. That is why the satirist posted the exact Pro specs — something that seems to have gone over your head.
You have to be the only reader who didn’t get the joke — which was pretty darn funny.
Jack knows…. Jack???
Jack says: “Palm does not use Windows Mobile on this or any of the Palm Phones as far as I am aware of.”
Really? Jack may want to check out a “Palm Phone” called the “Treo Pro” at Best buy. Its OS is advertized as WinMo 6.1 Pro, for all the world to see and be aware of. Since he likes to spout specs, he can find more about the Treo Pro at http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9075029&st=palm+pro&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1218016141157
Jack may even consider some education to recognize sarcasm and “tongue-in-cheek” humor when he next encounters it. It may increase his social acceptance in a variety of situations!
Jack: Spelling “Microsoft” with a “$” instead of an “S” stopped being funny in about 1994 when I first got tired of annoying nerds doing it.
Your info is wrong as I know plenty of people using Treos
running Windows Mobile.
Your comprehension is flawed as you did not get the joke above.
You fail at life.
LOL…as I twitter from my Palm Treo running WM5
Well.
As I know… all people here are saying that the New Best Phone in the Earth will be out in march you are incorrect.
Sorry But You dont Think As well as i do.
Because If the Palm Pre is realeased on March 15 ..2 day from today. Dont you Think Sprint Needs to Advertised and when you go to its website..You dont see anywhere saying that will be out for sale.
Sprint will anounce at least 30 days before the Palm Pre Comes out.
And this is about selling the new and wonderful phone..dont you think it needs to be adverstize….
Well people…
Thats all i have to say.
TAke can And by the way. The palm pre is out in the streets. So if you go to any clasiffied Anouncements you can find lots of them by your location.
I already have one and i bought it for 400 and in New York.
