It was not such a great day for Google Inc (GOOG.O) yeasterday, as they not only suffered from an outage of their email service, Gmail as well as a phishing scam on their Google Talk program. This chat protocol is embedded into Google’s Gmail Web interface.
Google has issued an apology for the outage of the Gmail service, and has given a full explanation as to what the problem was. Goggle also explained what was the cause of the phishing scam behind the Google Talk program. Google said that the main perpetrator of this phishing attack was from a website called ViddyHo.com, and have now added the site to their blacklist.
The users who have been transmitting these links have now been blocked, and have been marked as malicious in Google search results. The domain has now been noted as a phishing website to the likes of Chrome, Firefox and Safari browsers. The website has since been taken offline.
