Following it’s release last week, Capcom has announced that it has already sold 2 million copies worldwide of it’s popular fighting game, Street Fighter IV. The game had already been released earlier on in Japan, but since it’s release in North America and Europe, sales of the game have hit the top.
While hoping to maintain their long standing fanbase with this title, Capcom had also hoped to tempt new gamers into experiencing their premium beat-em-up. They also revealed that they aim to build on Street Fighter IV’ success into the upcoming movie, Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li which is due to hit cinemas at the end of February.
A statement from Capcom said “At Capcom, not only do we strive to make entertaining and profitable games, but we are always endeavouring to lucratively develop our popular franchises in other media in ways that will please the fans.”
Long may it continue, Street Fighter IV is getting all the positive media attention at the moment and rightly so.
