Sony’s Idou will battle with LG 12-Megapixel Cameraphone
By: Peter Chubb | February 23, 2009 | Leave a CommentSony thought that it would have the market all to itself with their 12-megapixel cameraphone, the Idou, but LG are already planning to launch their very own 12MP cell phone. LG Electronics hopes to launch the new handset sometime this year.
Jeremy Newing, LG’s UK marketing chief was at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where he said that the news of a phone with a 12-megapixel camera is all part of the traditional megapixel race. Newing did add that trying to transfer images of this size over most networks could prove difficult.
LG does not have a dedicated camera market to protect, which means that they can add a host of great features on the phone. Some of these features could include, better optical zoom, improved lenses, better image stabilizer and face detection.
