Resident Evil 5: Only 7 Hours of Gameplay?

It has been revealed today that Xbox World 360 magazine took just 7 and a half hours to complete the first run through of Capcom shooter Resident Evil 5 - Some distance away from the projected ‘20+ hours’ completion rate that had been suggested previously.

As reported by CVG, The review from Xbox World 360 also contains screenshots showing proof of the ’seven hours, thirty-six minutes and one second’ completion time.

They were keen to stress that there was plenty of extras (obviously) to unlock, extending game time, but the main point they were trying to address was that a full first play through of the game (minus cutscenes) resulted in the above time and that it was not a ’speed-run’ or anything along those lines.

Compared to Resident Evil 4’s playtime, this is somewhat brief and way off the 20+ hour indications. What do you guys think? Has this put you off from a purchase?

  1. Not at all. The number of games left finished in my collection due to their epic length is, well, uncountable to be honest.
Give me a solid seven hours of quality any day.

with every day passing, this game is revealing it self to be more and more disappointing. Especially for PS3 owners. 5g install, possibly inferior looking port and now only 7 hours of play? wtf Capcom?

  3. Ray says:

I guess on the other hand, the PS3 has free online, so you don’t have to pay $50/year to play it.

  4. mobiletone says:

a lot depends on the difficulty setting i guess, i mean sub 10hrs is standard practice these days it seems. even KillZone2 can be done in around 8hrs on ‘average’ setting.

  5. mobiletone says:

after playing the demo i decided against buying it.
no wonder Sony pulled it from the Store, loads of neg feedback.

  6. ray says:

Sony didnt pull it from the store. You can find it under Capcoms page in the PSN.

  7. Taylor says:

Why can’t you move and shoot? It’s so stupid. Lol. Seriously.. why make a game that you can’t move and attack at the same time… It’s ridiculous.

My friend has been playing all day. I’m selling the game on ebay after today.

  8. kyle says:

iv been playing the game for around 4 hours im a little dissapointed in the fact that it starts of good and gets silly, the game its self tops the others but im not happy knowing now it only takes around 7-10 hours resident evil 4 took a lot longer than this. overall it makes up for its crap bits with the fact that the films in it and the gameplay is ver realistic compared to the others

  9. Lance says:

It took my less than 10 hours to complete the game on normal on my initial play through. This includes collecting all of the treasures and BSAA medallions. Yes, it is short, but I will still play it through on Veteran and Professional.

ffs RE5 is a really bad game my fastest completion time is 1hour 51mins how is that 7hours ??
