PS3 handles Killzone 2, Sony say Xbox 360 cannot

well everybody knows that the ps3 is a more powerful console

“only made possible by the power of the PS3″ sounds more like marketing lingo than a fact. I’m not saying that PS3 isn’t more powerful because it definitely is, but Killzone 2 can easily dumb itself down enough to be playable on the xbox.

Anything can be dumb to run on the Xbox. Look at some of the multi-platform games that are going to suffer because of this. The first that come to mind is FinalFantasy. It’s been delayed and I am sure it will be hindered. There is another game that they had to redesign the game because of the DVD Size Limit and M$ charging the developers for going over 2 DVD.

People from Guerilla Games stated that KZ2 is 25GB. So that right there means that the XBox CAN NOT handle the games unless it goes multi DVD or the resolution of the images is reduces dramatically.

played killzone anyway on my hd tv, certainly good graphics but the gameplay sucks… ragdoll sucks and plus player seems like he’s 4ft tall, boring story, obviously 25gb of waste. loved the first killzone, hate how games focus on graphics these days you end up with midly enjoyable cinematics and crap gameplay

Sony just saying this to try to boost sales, I own both consoles and hav seen many multi-platform games, e.g GTA 4, Assassins Creed, Fifa 09, Far Cry 2 and Xbox 360 is far superior with its sharpness an colours along with the details, maybe you cant fit Killzone at its best on a 360 disc but most games have been developed for 360 and then ported to PS3, lets face it who will get best experience of the game?? 360 users because the PS3 thumbsticks suck and tend to slip. Overall my PS3 has been more reliable, me having had 5 360′s and the latest 1 repaired, but for me the PS3′s main use is the Blu-Ray player.

You’re an idiot, and you probably don’t own a PS3. You can keep lying to yourself and others about your 360 breaking less than your PS3 if it makes you sleep at night, but your 360 will break eventually (if it hasn’t already and you just won’t admit it), its only a matter of time.

A game that focuses on graphics winding up with midly (did you mean mildly? go back to school) enjoyable cinematics and crap gameplay. Sounds alot like Halo 3, except for the part about good graphics that is.

I cant agree that the PS3 broke more than 360, but perhaps Killzone will be awesome, maybe i’ll haveto customise my ps3 controller with 360 thumbsticks, that’ll prob help.

When developers brag about the amount of space that they use it really is nothing, considering they often place textures that are uncompressed and many of the assets are in duplicate locations on the disk to help eliminate read/write access issues. The Blu-ray drive only spins at the same speed as a slow 3x (or 4X max) DVD-drive. So the Xbox 360′s DVD drive can read about 2 times as much data than the PS3 can from its optical disk drive.

This is why many companies have started using mandatory installs on the PS3. So when a company says it cannot be done I would be a little skeptical, and the PS3 has a slightly lower graphical capabilities. Sure the PS3 can crunch more numbers and things at a time, but it does have bottlenecks in its design.

I do hope that this game makes the PS3 a worthwile console. I’ll stick with my several hundred dollar less machine that has a larger, better library of games. Everyone knows multiplatform games look better on the 360.

seriously James get a grip a software company designed a 16 layer bluray disc that you can store up to 500gb of data on the ps3 is built to last xbox will have to build a new console to catch up in a few years and then every xbox owner me being one will have spent more on both than on a ps3.

I thought metal gear solid 4 had already proven that the PS3 was a superior machine when it came down to raw power and graphics.

Killzone2 is trying just proving that they have a FPS that can compete with, and possibly beat, Halo. Not having played the game yet I can’t decide for myself yet but Halo 3 was an incredibly FUN game to play which is what the bottom line is.

The graphics and the story line are significant in the way that they further augment the video game experience but the real test will be whether or not the Multiplayer will be exciting, and more importantly long lasting.

I believe everyone needs to give up on the debate of which system is better as it doesn’t really matter in the end. All that really matters is which system winds up having more great games.

To date…I think anyone being objective has to accept the facts by number that indicate a clear domination in this category so far by the 360 over the PS3. Killzone does appear to be one of those type of games so it is obviously not whether great games can be made for the PS3, but rather whether most companies are willing to put such an extraordinary effort to make it happen. It is clearly quicker, easier and cheaper to make a great game on the 360. In such hard economic times, a company is almost forced to develop for the 360 due to this major factor. Profitability is what the investors want and it is clearly the 360 that ensures the most profits do to those factors in combination with the much larger install base of the 360.

Only time will tell if the PS3 will continue to put out solid games moving forward, but I am inclined to say that most developers will continue to go the more profitable route if they must choose one system over the other.

Uh, yeah…it could handle Gears of War 2, easily….in fact, EPIC isn’t owned by Microsoft so those games could potentially come to the PS3, and would probably be better if EPIC took the time.

Being in last place doesn’t mean a thing this generation. Microsoft dropped the price on the Xbox 360 Arcade LOWER than that of Nintendo’s console, and it still couldn’t sell as well as the Wii!LOL! Keep on about how its beating the PS3 because it won’t be for much longer, especially after Sony brings out a much cheaper sku.

I guess Sony figured that gamers were smart and that they had gained enough loyalty over the years to produce an expensive, yet superior console that people would be willing to pay for. The truth is that most people, especially in the states, are cheap and stubborn and have no respect for a quality console with multiple exclusives, because they’re too busy with Halo 3(HORRIBLE) and Gears of War 2(DECENT, NOT GROUNDBREAKING). I have a 360 too and I don’t see what all the fuss is about.

Sony talks rubbish all the time. I’m a developer and I can tell you now the 360 got better tools hence better games. The DVD is not an issue. Its ample space for 95% of games. Only those with Japanese style RPG with hours and hours of cut scenes will benefit from BR. Whats more, cut scene are so last gen. The 360 got a better GPU and its CPU performs better for game code. When the time + price is right the next gen Xbox will have some form of high capacity storage.
The PS3 is using most of its processing power on the graphics and not much left for physics and AI. Hence the rubbish rag doll effects and AI in Killzone 2. The 360 can handle the same graphics also if you sacrifice other areas.

I love my xbox 360 n Ps3 Killzone 1 or 2 never played it cause im always playing CoD 4 the best game ever on my xbox but killzone cant play on 1080p why because it wasnt going to be smooth so its on 720p that sucks n its a Ps3 exclusive wtf.

gears is owned by Microsoft, epic makes the game. It will never be on the crapstation. The bottom line is that 90% of all games look better on the 360. The programmers, state this as fact. 360=Better game library, Xbox live, netflix, an established base. ps3=playing blue rays movies, crappy network, nobody with a mic, and second rate games.

The 360 is the gamers system, the ps3 is the cheap whores access to blu ray, and nothing else…ohhhh, that’s right, stand alone players are cheaper now. Hence sony’s sales dropping from last years numbers.

I’ve noticed that there are good point to touch on 360 but to the limits to bash the Ps3 no. I don’t go around worrying about sales,on which console sales more but apparently it matters to others. the truth is 360 has sold many more than sony but many fanboys have forgotten that MS costumers have at least bought two. in some occasions three like me.
fist i like the 360 but i think the majority of their titles are way overhype like halo series graphics and gameplay to me 7/10.Gears on the other hand is Xbox best graphical display and yes better than bioshock,mass effect,fable2,orang box. anyways since i play them all and collect them i’ve read at least hundreds of site posting that killzone2 is overhyped well i think is way better than Gears2 not by miles but a fair margin. but fanboys are specialy those that can handle the fact that the best looking game is on ps3 they start bashing ps3. regardless of your opinions the results would be the same. and all the fanboys got the impression that the 360 was the better console by comments like carmack,and developers like valve,or when multicross plat games that 360 got the edge do to lead in development other than that their chewing their own words look at rage he said that only difference was the storage but it looks better on ps3 do to blue ray. I think Sony should sit down and play through Gears of War 2. I’m not saying the PS3 couldn’t do it but the fact it is there’s nothing anywhere nears as breathing taking on the system and not an overlong or tedious cutscene in sight.

I have a xbox360 but i do not have a ps3 (might get one if gow3 is only on ps3). anyway the xbox360 has better graphic and the games itself are great. halo 3 for ex. graphic are great story is great. fallout 3 well, lets just say this game makes halo 3, killzone 2, and all the games that ps3 and xbox360 talk about, are crap compaired to fallout 3 because of the story and graphic. and that not just my thoughts. the ps3 has many good thins about is but very bad things also first, the blu-ray is so great, in 10 to 15 years blu-ray will be old tech. some of the most waited games like killzone 2 and gow3 games that i can’t wait for to come out are one the ps3 but if you think about it from the gamemakers point of view they want sales and a big game like killzone 2 must had cost a lot so hey want more sales and if its on the 360 and ps3 sales will sky rocket because of people like me who love killzone 2 and halo 3 but i got the xbox for halo 3 (it made 1.7 billionin the first hour) hint hint. all i am trying to say is the 360 and ps3 will never out make the other or be better than the other so the only way to get the best of both worlds is to get both systems. or the two companys join togeather to be make a god system like a ps360 that will destory the wii(i hate the wii with a passion) now does that sound like a good idea or not. and one more thing. lololollolololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol rofl

I never wanted 2 play Killzone 2, but u can’t blame Me, why all i have 2 say is Killzone 1 it just sucks just like i thought this one was going to be . But after i look at some videos of KillZone 2 it proves me wrong this game looks better than any game i ever played, i mean look at it the game play looks like ur in a freakin action movie and the graphs and detail is way better than any console game out right now. I don’t really play fps games but this looks amazin’. the only problem is i got a new 360 don’t get me wrong its a good system its way better than a Wii (trust me I Have A Wii) and have some good games (like Gears of War 2 and Fable 2) but right now i want a PS3 for Killzone 2, MGS4 and of course my favorite game of all time Gran Turismo. While i save my money to get a PS3 I’ll just be playing RE5 when it comes out next week.

(p.s. i never liked halo 1,2 or 3 they suck as much as Killzone 1)

Now from the list, i dont consider myself a fanboy but if i were to buy a console based on exclusive games, there would be no way in hell i’d pick the 360′s lineup.

Aside from exclusives, the rest of the good games are multi-console. Which ofcourse will pave the way for those fanboys who will complain certain system loads better, or having slighty better frame-rate. (resident evil 5, gta4, dmc4, ff13, fallout 3, bad company, call of duty are all for both the consoles at the least)

Hey guys, best combo is PC and PS3… Most xbox exclusives come on PC anyway. Gears 1 looked better on PC. when it comes down to Exclusives, I’m more impressed with the PS3 exclusives. I’m a gamer and just want to game, Don’t care about who sells more, honestly – like I’m gonna get money for promoting sony and microsoft. LOL

Oh and, Killzone 2 is absoloutely amazing, gameplay is very good, graphics is way better than MGS4 on a HDTV of course. Controls are slow but can be tuned and easily getting used to.

P.S. Xbox can’t handle MGS4, there is no way it can handle Killzone 2. you xbox people hate it coz u don’t have it…

do you all not realize one thing, xbox has only released 2 consoles, for the second crack at a gaming console the 360 does it quite nicely. PlayStation is only just there with their ps3, when the third xbox comes out, it will shit all over the 3rd play station.

Technically this day has been coming for the past 3 years. On paper the Sony’s Ps3 is the best console, yet they have not been able to prove it thus far in this ongoing console war. Killzone 2 in much more advanced in the graphics department, than anything Xbox 360 has brought out thus far. I’m not just a Sony fanboy either, I own both system and cherish both, but play my 360 alot more. Gears ofWar 2 is the best looking game on 360. Get both of these games and put them side by side one another on the highest HD resolutions possible and there is your proof. Killzone 2″s graphics are second to none other on the consoles.the 360 was pushing its system to its limits with G.o.w. 2, while the PS3 is just finally taking off.

I love my 360. I have had it 3 years and never had a rrod issue. I’m not saying its better than ps3 because I have a life and bigger worries to deal with. I do know when I bought a ps2 when it came out it was defective and all the games would have white lines all over the screen, I sent it to sony and the refused to fix it because it showed signs it had been dropped. I never dropped it and I blame sony. A few months after that I bought an xbox and I was sold from then on. Sony has dropped about 10 different versions of ps3 and will drop the ps4 way before the new xbox because sony is STILL losing money on every ps3 sold. What the h*** is the point of a blue-ray movie when a dvd can be converted to full 1080? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

You know Killzone 2's AI is said to be some of the best in the industry, and what do you do as a developer, if you were one you would say your job like title and how it makes you credible so you can make these statements facts. Start talking about the technical side and how this is true, my dads a programmer, he'll tell me if you are lying to prove a point. What gaming code do you use, plus if you were a dev you would work on specifics, you wouldn't know if the AI was better than the graphics because you wouldn't work on both. PLus everything in a game comes down to the processing power, the money put into technology for the game, and The work of the people, if the AI sucks its the Programmer who worked on its fault not the systems.

Actually that statement is complete BS Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 look way way way better than gears 2 in graphics and run just as smooth, but I prefer Gears 2 personally. But gears can't compete with those games. But God of war 3 and Mass effect 2 FTW!!!!

Actually it's been proven, like the army using ps3's as supercomputers(look it up), the cell being huge in compairson to the RSX(look it up) and the fact that a slightly larger model of the cell is being used in Nasa satillites(look it up).
