Nokia N97 will be released in June

Nokia have announced that the highly anticipated Nokia N97 will be released sometime in June. The announcement was made at this years Mobile World Congress and it appears Nokia will have a busy schedule ahead of them following a similar announcement about the Nokia N86.

Dubbed a ‘multimedia computer’, the N97 will be available to buy in the UK in June which has made some consumers worry that the phone might be slightly outdated on release. Originally Nokia had given the smartphone a ‘first half of 2009′ timeframe, but as we know they do like to delay dates somewhat.

Those issues aside though, the phone does pack some fantastic features in it such as 3.5-inch, 16 million colour, 640 pixel wide 16:9 widescreen touchscreen along with a seperate QWERTY keyboard hidden inside. Stay tuned to hear more details on the N97 as we get them.

    Strangely enough Orange keep telling me Apr or May. I wonder which one will be better, the iPhone or the N97. Although with the prospect of Apple releasing a new iPhone which one will be out first???

    I’m very disappoist when I heard that N97 will be release some time in June 2009, by the time the N97 release it probobly out date it and no one want to having it because it will be many new phone and new better hardware coming and especially the Iphone.

    I am anticipating the excitement of the N97. It might be a delayed release but the specs are still ahead of whats on the market at the moment as well as any other potential releases I have been following.

    Gosh…I thought it would be released on March 31st. Are you sure that it will be released in June. I think i should buy another phone if it releases in June

    ive been holding off getting a different phone for ages because i knew this would be coming out, ive waited long anough expecting it in march but june is just ridiculous, they should stop announcing phones so far before their release

    Nah craig, what with uk operators all forcing people into 18month contracts they have to make sure people are in renewal so they can actually get one

    I feel a little bit disappointed about the release date for the Nokia N97 as i had been looking forward to end of March as earlier informed.I am on 02 network and due for an upgrade but this Nokia N97 multimedia phone has been my priority choice for upgrade.Having said that,it has come to my notice that 02 might not market the phone because of the skype which has been introduced on it.Therefore,i am contemplating leaving 02 if they don’t market the phone for another network that does.The problem that i now have is that i might have to wait longer than i initially thought now for an upgrade and with 02 what i have known from experience is that most of their Nokia handsets if not all come unlocked.Like for instance,the Nokia E90 that i have is unlocked and i could use any sim card on it.Unlike 3network,all their handsets are locked to their network,likewise Vodafone,Tmobile and Orange of which most of them are if not all.Could anyone please tell me whether the Nokia N97 would be coming unlocked straight from the warehouse depot so that if i have to leave 02 in the event of the skype being introduced which seems so now,it would not matter to me as i prefer to have it my way (unlocked)which gives me flexibility of usage?

    Im also with you Olu. Im on O2 as well, and my upgrade is due..was hoping to pick this up, but the time delay has put me off big time. Wondering which phone to get now..

    I am on 02 and my contract is finishing in april i have my contarct with e2save i dont know weather to get an upgrade with them or get an iphone 3g direct from 02. I really want the n97 so what i might do is just carry on my contract for 2 months and in june ask for an upgrade.

    Just a question for Ed, if you are saying that Orange are telling you ti will be released in April/May, does that mean that they have decided to stock it, because the last I heard, Orange and O2 where not sure if they were because of the Skype software pre-installed,?? but I want the phone on Orange or O2, because they are the only ones you can get signal with where I live, although, I cant wait until this phone is released, although, isn’t it already out in Finland… but I dont want to pay £600 + for the phone unlocked, and then more for the contract/PAYG…

    Im puzzled. I’e been to every mobile company to get this phone and cant find it o2 says june but my friend has some how got her hands on one now and she’s with o2 too. Im so jelous.
