Fresh from the Mobile World Congress, Sony Ericsson has announced the world’s first 12.1MP camera phone which they hope to release on the market in the second half of 2009.
The phone is to be nicknamed the ‘Idou’ and as well as being the first phone with ground-breaking image features, it will also feature a 3.5-inch touchscreen, 16:9 widescreen screen ratio and excellent music features thanks to its Walkman platform.
Other interesting details reported by TechRadar include a brand new interface system for the phone, which is designed with ideas from the Symbian Foundation.
What do you think of this latest bit of news? More and more technology in our mobile phones are being designed at frightening speeds. It was not so long ago where top of the line digital cameras offered 12.1MP specs, but it looks as if we’ll able to get our hands on this kind of imaging power in a mobile phone at the end of the year. Who knows what is capable in the future, let us know your thoughts on this below.

Sony Ericsson will make a full Idou announcement before the Summer, with the Idou itself expected to launch in the second-half of 2009. No word on its official name, which carriers will carry it or anything else.

I ve got the best cellfone in the world !!! NOKIA 1220 !
I hope they don’t leave that bumpy slide part on the phone. PLEASE INCORPORATE IT INTO THE BODY MORE!
like the k800i it tends to slide open in the pocket and go snap crazy.
Otherwise it looks like an awesome sleek phone.
Maybe i’ll wait a while before i change phones… definitely keeping my eye out for this one!
