TechReport have stated that a fresh report from the European Parliament into the effects of video games on children has concluded with ’somewhat’ surprising results, stating that ‘Video games can stimulate learning of facts and skills such as strategic thinking, creativity, cooperation and innovative thinking.’
While most of these similar reports condemn the effects of video games on children, this one however highlights the positive effects that it can have towards young ones as they grow up. Dutch liberal MP Toine Manders felt the need to stress that there is no proof that gaming has any ‘immediate negative impact on children’.
Instead he focused on the educational aspects that gaming can have and suggested ideas for schools to embrace the use of games for educational purposes and encourage parents to see the advantages and disadvantages of games. What do you think about this?
