Kindle 2.0 eBook Reader: 2009 sees 2nd generation

The new Kindle 2.0 eBook reader was unveiled today and buyers can get the device from February 24, 2009. The 2nd generation books reader keeps the same $359 price but reduces its size and increases its features.

Amazon’s (NASDAQ: AMZN) more rounded Kindle 2 not only reads aloud to a user with text-to-speech, but will also access instant word definitions thanks to 3G wireless and partnership with Oxford’s English Dictionary.

The main features include a lightweight 10.2 ounces, slim at 1/3 of an inch, 3G wireless, 25% longer battery life than first generation, improved display, read-to-me feature and holds over 1,500 books from a selection of more than 230,000.
