Hands-on: Xerox Phaser 6280 Laser Printer

By Posted 2 Feb 2009, 16:13

Xerox is known for their solid built printing solutions for business but this comes at a price and in the past this has been a premium for these advanced features.

Today Xerox has the Phaser 6280 printer that’s been designed for small and medium-sized businesses that have limited budgets. These businesses demand professional and high quality documents, printed with vivid colors.

The Xerox Phaser 6280 color laser printer is low-priced and feature packed from a brand that produces some of the world’s best laser printers.

When we first opened the box to the Phaser 6280 we noticed that it’s certainly bigger than most printers but also smaller than some business laser printers. You can expect a business-sized printer in a compact package.

We have taken as many photos as we can; this gives you a close up of different angles and a feel for the quality build that comes with the Xerox name.

The Phaser 6280 prints in color up to 26 ppm and in black at up to 31 ppm. You can have the option of wireless network connectivity but comes with Ethernet as standard. You will also find the Phaser 6280DN model to have two-sided output as standard.

As you can see in some of the photos, the box contains black and color cartridges, a power cord and software. There is also documentation and multiply quick use guides for the business that needs to hand this information to more than one person (an extra thought that is most welcomed).

Xerox’s Phaser 6280 is a business printer and with this in mind they make sure to support a wide range of operating systems. These include support for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

The 6280 are cheaper than many competitors (about £310 in the UK and around $530 in U.S.) and have many features competitive products do not. These include fastest to first page, faster print speed, better output quality and more memory as standard and maximum.

In Summery: While you get a product that has more features than more expensive laser printers, it was heavier than some of its competitors. If that’s not a problem for you and an expectation for business use, then we fully recommended the Xerox Phaser 6280.

This Xerox is a superb printer! Although some reviewers web-wide claim that it is prone to jamming when duplexing, I cannot honestly say that I've experienced such a problem! Print & colour is so crisp. No 'smudges' here as with alternative brand machines of the same value!

Used within the home and not office environment, the Phaser 6280ND should be a good workhorse for several years ahead.

Works 'out of the box' on USB!

Would you be able to post a high res picture of a print out as well as the source image that it was printed from? Its very hard to find reviews that show a picture of the print job itself.
