Dell’s Phone: Beyond Apple’s iPhone, RIM BlackBerry and Palm Pre
By: Daniel Chubb | February 2, 2009 | Leave a CommentThe Smartphone market is an extremely competitive one and has some major players with cool devices. These include the RIM (RIMM) BlackBerry, Apple (AAPL) iPhone and upcoming Palm (PALM) Pre.
Dell, the popular computer maker is apparently working on a Smartphone to compete with these high-end phones. It will need to go way beyond the iPhone, Blackberry or Pre to succeed in this market, in fact analysts say it will need to be “spectacular”.
Dell was contacted by InformationWeek about the new phones and gave the normal no comment on rumor answer. Last month the Wall Street Journal broke some news that Dell engineers have been at work on two phones, one that has a slide out keyboard and the other has a touch screen. One of these phones runs on Microsoft’s (MSFT) Windows Mobile software and the other on Google’s (GOOG) Android OS.
While we have no release date, we hear it could be anytime from this month and prototypes have already been built. Hit the read link below for the full story.
