Resident Evil 5 Demo: Xbox 360 now, Sony PS3 in Feb

With a promise to make the survival horror series like it’s never been before, the Resident Evil 5 demo has hit the Xbox 360 today and can be downloaded from Xbox Live. Sony PS3 owners will have to wait until February 2nd for the demo.

This latest version of the Resident Evil franchise includes a level of detail that has not been seen before in any Resident Evil game. You should find increased realism and control.

The demo on Xbox Live has two levels that you can play; these are from the start of the game. Levels “Shanty Town” and “Assembly Place” are playable over XBL, 2 player split screen co-op and single player with AI.

If you enjoy the demo then you can buy the full game in Japan on March 12 and North America on March 13 this year. Let us know what you think of Resident Evil 5 in the comments.

To bad you cant move and shoot at the same time.

AI capitalizes on poor slow controls.

Turning feels like your in MUD.

I agree with carla. I hope they improve the controls significantly. You can’t move and use your knife for example. This places you in a significant disadvantage, as ammo is very sparse, with poor gun sighting, so your melee weapon becomes crucial, however the zombies often carry weapons with greater reach meaning they can hit you, but you can’t hit them. Then there is the inventory selector, which is far too slow to change weapons in the midst of a fight. The Fights also feel too slow and clunky to develop any sense of excitement or “fear”. The graphics look great, now all they need to do is improve the game mechanics.

Peter, you can actually hotkey your items and weapons to the D-pad to make switching between weapons and herbs, ect, much easier. What I really didn’t like was that there is no auto-run, but I also agree that turning is rather slow. You can increase the gun site sensitivity in the options though.

3 buttons to load your gun but only while you stand still.
