Apple upgrades MacBook line without price increase
By: Peter Chubb | January 22, 2009 | Leave a CommentApple have done something that we do not see very often, they have upgraded their MacBook line giving the notebook better specs, but without a price increase. The other strange thing is they did it quietly without telling the world’s media about it.
The MacBook that has been tweaked is their entry-level 13-inch model, which is sure to become more popular in 2009, as consumers now have less to spend. This model could now be a big hit as Apple have made certain that consumers get more for their money.
The small white notebook has a number of hardware upgrades, the first being a boast to the graphics in the way of a NVIDIA’s GeForce 9400M GPU, this replaces the older GMA X3100. Apple has also increased the memory from 1GB to 2GB and from Bluetooth v2.0 to v2.1.
The clock speed of the processor has seen a slight drop from 2.1GHz to 2.0GHz, but this marginal fall will not slow the MacBook down, as Apple have used a newer version of their 2.0GHz CPU, which now has a FSB of 1066MHz.
