Sony says Xbox 360 lacks longevity: PS3 will finish on top

Kazuo Hirai, Sony Computer Entertainment’s Chairman has been trying to stir things up again, this time he has said that the Xbox 360 “lacks longevity”; he added that it remains certain that their PS3 will finish on top.

This is such a bold claim, one that is sure to upset a few Xbox 360 owners. Hirai also added that regardless of install base or who has sold more games consoles, he told Official PlayStation Magazine “I’d like to think that we continue official leadership in this industry.”

Kazuo Hirai did say that Sony do not look at Nintendo because they do not look at their console as being a competitor. He did say that they are a different world, and we operate in our world. Now we can take that one of two ways, either he looks at the Nintendo Wii as being a different console aimed at a different user, or that they have no hope of ever catching the Wii in sales, so they go for an easier target, the Xbox 360.
