Intel Quad-core Chip Price cut: 40 Percent cheaper

Intel knows that to keep sales going in 2009 they need to take drastic action, and they certainly have done that. The processor giant has cut the price of their Quad-core Chip by 40 percent. Intel has also cut the price of a number of their other chips used in mobile and desktop PCs.

The new price for the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 is just $316; other Core 2 Quad chip prices have been cut between 16 and 20 percent. This certainly shows that Intel are making sure that rival AMD do not get the jump on them, as they have usually been cheaper for their chips.

AMD recently announced the launch of the Phenom II quad-core chips, which are aimed at the high-end desktop market, these processors from AMD cost between $235 and $275. Intel has also cut the price on their Xeon chips for servers as well as their Celeron processors for mobile devices by up to a massive 48 percent.
