Circuit City Liquidation Sale to benefit Best Buy
By: Peter Chubb | January 19, 2009 | Leave a CommentThe start of 2009 will be a sad one for consumers and Circuit City staff, as the electronics store has started their liquidation sale at their remaining 567 stores in the U.S… Consumers will feel it hard later this year once they notice that they have far less choices than they did in 2008. One company who will benefit from all this has to be Best Buy.
Best Buy are now in a stronger position than ever, not only have they seen off Circuit City, but also CompUSA as well. Best Buy will now have a strangle hold on local retail electronics sales, this will only benefit those who live in an area with a local store.
Consumers in the U.S. still have a few choices, such as Frys and HH Gregg, but it is Best Buy that will gain the most. Consumers will now have to fear higher prices, as there will now be less competition. There is light at the end of this dark tunnel for consumers, and that is Internet purchases will become more competitive, and that means cheaper prices.
