YouTube for Television coming to Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii

YouTube have announced that they are to launch a new service called, YouTube for Television. A section of the website will have a new interface, which is designed just for Television screens. First YouTube for TV will be launched as a beta for use on the Sony PS3 and the Nintendo Wii.

The new interface allows for easy and relaxing viewing on your TV set, you are able to use this new interface with just a few short clicks of your remote. Text has been enlarged on the new interface of YouTube as well as simplified navigation, watching YouTube on your TV is an easy process.

YouTube for Television on the Nintendo Wii and the PlayStation 3 will be launched in 22 countries and 12 languages first; more devices are likely to be added in the future. We do hope that this new feature works as well as it sounds, as viewing YouTube through the PS3 web browser now is a bit of a pain.

Interesting. I wonder if this will have any effect on people’s viewing habits, particularly their tolerance for longer programmes. Or will new, longer content be developed for the service?
