Sony VAIO P secrets unveiled: inspired by Mini Cooper

The debate still goes on as to what the new Sony VAIO P is, Sony calls it a notebook but most of us see the small device as a Netbook. There is one thing that we all agree on, and that it is one sexy piece of hardware. Engadget China have been taking to designer Takuma Tomoaki, who unveiled some secrets of the new mini computer.

The first thing that came as a surprise was a link to the Mini Cooper , it seems that this is Tomoaki’s favorite car as it is small and sophisticated, just like the Sony VAIO P. The new notebook has been designed around the smallest usable keyboard, all other design features has been a result of that.

There had been a debate, should they go for a 16mm pitch or a 17.5mm pitch for the keyboard, the 16.5mm won. A larger panel had been planned for the prototype, but had to be reduced to make room for its antennas on each side.
