Killzone 2: Should Sony PS3 developers change expectations

We are only a month away from the release of Killzone 2 in the U.S and there is no denying that the game is producing a huge amount of buzz on the Internet. It is hoped that Killzone 2 will finally be able to show the true potential of the Sony PS3, which will then raise the question “Should Sony PS3 developers change expectations.”
There is no denying that the Sony PlayStation 3 is a truly powerful system, but none of the games available has been able to set it apart from the Xbox 360 in gameplay. We did get a tease with Metal Gear Solid 4, but it still did not show the true power of the PS3.
Hopefully Killzone 2 will be able to change all that, the game has now raised the bar in the graphical and physical design of the game. Other developers will be able to see what Guerrila Games have done, and will aim to do the same, if not better.

@Drunken
If you want you saying has any merrit. What would be the point of release the PS4 when they have not figuered how to correct the issues with the PS3.
You make now sense what so ever. What will the PS4 bring to the table to correct the PS3 issues. A New SDK? More standard Hardware?
The PS4 will most like have a similar architecture to the PS3. Meaning that (if rumors are true) it will have either two or four CELL Processors with about 4GB of RAM and a kick a$$ video card.
The SDK will be very similar to what developers are using now. If not better.
These are just my guess as to what the PS4 should have.
why worry about sales personally i also have both frankly the game is not score by sales the ps3 is wayyyyy better sys then anything in the market right now but the final call is up to developers not sony or ms fanboy just don’t get it since the begining they said that ps3 will come out to shine and 360 fanboys all they talk was about specs and how the xbox unified memory the truth is here and is way different verdict as far as gears i also own both part 1and 2 ,not to be compared but graphics gears don’t have nothing on killzone2 or any other exclusive thats coming out and for the records alan wake has nothing on killzone2 heavy rain is waiting ask any developers now rage,red faction ,etc developers are saying that 360 has thats so call gpu MAXXED and have to change version stop makkig the 360 bigger than what it is
I wish I had a PS3 to play Killzone 2, but I have decided to stick with my PC (mostly for the controls, and because I like being able to upgrade when I feel like it, and I also like the snobbish feeling of having more power in my gpu alone than the entire PS3 or Xbox 360).
But, like others have said, Killzone 2 will shine because of its excellent backing and resources. Sony probably hasn’t made a mistake by spending so much because one major title can become a real system mover if it shows off the system’s capabilities. Gears of War did wonders for the 360 because it showed that the system had balls.
Anyway, I wouldn’t get to ahead of yourselves by claiming that Killzone 2 will raise the bar for all shooters, etc. It’ll probably be a great game, by I think Crysis and Crysis Warhead are already ahead of whatever Killzone 2 will offer in terms of technical performance (I’m talking overall graphics, physics, etc.). If you’ve ever seen Crysis Warhead cranked up with some settings on enthusiast, then you’ll know what I mean. Really, what sets Crysis games apart are their physics and the realism of the individual soldiers, which are unbelievable. The jungle settings are cool, but seriously, taking entire buildings apart piece by piece. If they can do that in Killzone 2, then maybe I’ll be a believer. /end_PC_Snobbism
@pcnob crysis and killzone2 are total different games but now that you mentioned i get the filling that you are a crysis and pc fanboy but personaly i think that killzone will be more fun than crysis. further more crysis is overhyped as far as consoles the bar has been lifted by the developers taking advantage of ps3 unique architecture something that 360 with all the balls that has cant handle killzone 2 do to slow processing that right slow processing this also apply to high end pc including my so my post is a fact ps3 or say sony doesn’t need to claim anything the best graphical games are all sony exclusive, i also own a 360 with 24 games including gears 1,2 but i’m not going to say that because the online on 360 is better that the in the graphics too answer NO. people (FANBOYS) often say that in compared multicross the 360 has better graphics or gpu chip poor developments have lead to fanboys to believe that 360 hardware is better NO and NO as for the part you said believe in killzone2 nobody its implying that you should
Take a writing class. Your writing is mostly incoherent.
You, obviously, are a PS3 fanboy. I, on the other hand, think the PS3 is an awesome system, but I’m not going to exaggerate Killzone 2. It’ll be a great game, but I’ve already watched gameplay footage, and it’s already behind what’s available on the PC. Sorry, but your precious PS3 with it’s gpu that is the equivalent of a geForce 7950 (or thereabouts) is not going to touch the processing power of the PC. We’ve already had the 8800, 9800, GTX 260/280, and GTX 285/295 cards come in since the 7950 (which is about the gpu power that your precious console has). Not to mention, you have 512 MB Ram total in a PS3, compared to a typical gaming machine with 4GB+ system RAM and 512MB to 1GB video RAM.

I see that you’ve posted a comment towards Bandolero about your pc specs, frankly you’ve misunderstood his point. The point about Killzone is thats it’s on a league of its own and guerrilla has lifted the bar for FPS and your point is that pcs are way stronger and have a better GPU than the PS3. You have one of those right which is GPU, the other one about your CPU is inferior to the cell processor in every way. You posted your specs without taking inconsideration that pcs have more available RAM as well as better cards. Now the cell processor assists RSX for graphics rendering. N.E ways, i don’t think bandolero wants to know your specs and neither do I. Last thing, with all the mighty specs you have. your pc can’t handle Killzone. It’s like this, short no cell processor, no Killzone2 and the 360 isnot more powerful than the PS3, [Take off your goggles!]
personally killzone2 has a league of their own and maybe just maybe developers will start working hard to reach a higher level so us gamers will continue to experience on which ever console you own great games graphics,gameplay as far of sales i think that sony schooled big ms last time now this time around 360 has had full year to their benefit with out comp now yes ms is ahead but i don’t think ms can afford another cut after custum new jasper chip so eventually sony will pull it off remember the race just getting started and ms has suffer lot of issues can he still do it we’ll see but definitely killzone2 will sell ps3 lots of ps3
