So just what is happening with Xbox 720 (aka Pulse)? We have heard so much rumor about the Xbox 720 over the last 12 months and most of the news is just that, rumor.
In fact the rumor and talk about the next version of Xbox has been going longer than a year, back on Monday 28 November 2005, the Guardian posted an article titled “What will the Xbox 720 be like?”. Oct 18th 2006 saw Slash Gear claim that the Xbox 720 was already in development.
More recently on August 28, 2008, a blog on mlive.com posted an article claiming Halo 4 was rumored to be the Xbox 720 launch title. Some of these are extremely wild claims. You only need to run a search on Youtube to see loads of videos making fun of the Xbox 720 or even stated as solid rumor or fact.
The latest news/rumor has included the Xbox 720 to use motion-sensing controllers, the Xbox 720 to be Released in 2011 and just today we hear from Microsoft that they will keep the Xbox 360 longer than first thought before launching a new model.
The Xbox 720 is even more unclear than ever, one thing seems likely and that is we will not see one anytime soon.

I have to say I’m not ready for the successor to the 360 just yet. I own all three consoles having purchased a PS3 within the last 6 months and the games for these look great. I don’t believe any of the consoles and nearing their end just yet, except for the Wii which has always disappointed me with its lack of power.
Perhaps by 2011 I’ll feel differently and will be ready to upgrade but certainly not before then.
yes i agree the wii is a total failure to me it is really the console equivalent to the ds and how could Microsoft make a new xbox when these models are still in the beginning of their time
Failure? hardly it outsold Microsoft and Playstation 3, having said that it would be foolish to call it a failure.
*correction I meant Xbox 360
i think the xbox 720 will be awesome
that is so cool a new xbox is comming out but is the rumor true if it is true i am going to buy it
no dont buy it immediately wait at least till they come out with a better model. it will probably b like the 360 frst arcade thn pro Lst elite just wait for it bsides wat enhancements could they have done to it if they come out with it so soon
i want the xbox to keep their current controller layout
and to get a 8 gb micro sd as your xbox live gamertag and for your gamerscore and saved data and for them to have an ssd for a hardrive full hd wires with every console and wifi enabled inside it with every console
and for the console to be very reliable and remember it will use bluray and of course the usual graphics proccesing and ram improvements
i want it bassically to have minor improvements with wifi built inside and to be very reliable and to have short load times . i like the current xbox for now though
MicroSoft has time with it’s 720/Pulse. The 360 is doing just fine. With awesome games like Fallout 3, Gears of War and what’s not yet to come: Forza 3, Halo 3: ODST, Black 2 and so much more. The developers are understanding the current model better and better. i really don’t see that players are going to get bored with the Xbox 360 until the next generation comes.
I agree completely with most of the other people on here. I think there is no reason to rush in to the Xbox 720 and that Microsoft is making the right move in taking their time with it. The 360 is the greatest console I’ve ever played, but my experience only goes back so far as the SNES because I’m 19. I have been playing it almost every single day since Christmas 2005 when I got it as a gift from my parents. Nothing tops it. The Wii is innovative, but I think all the games are way too similar, and the real games I love, the shooters, are garbage on the Wii, imo. PS3 is way too overpriced for me and the controller just doesn’t work. 360 is absolutely perfect in every sense. The games, the controller, the graphics, the Live service, the accessories, etc, etc. There are only going to be more good games for it so why not let Microsoft take their time to try to build another outstanding console when we still have entertainment on the 360?
ps3 is more powerful(killzone 2 anyone?). they lost mostly all their exclusives (final fantasy, devil may cry, gta, etc). their online isn’t as good as xbox but HEY! it’s freeeeeee. their button layout on their controlers are far superior to the 360 however the joysticks suck (to some degree) compared to the 360. multimedia up the wazoo and 3rd party hardware compatability. as well as some freebie addons (so far i can referance this to madden’s roster update)
xbox360 is pretty good. halo 1-3 is like golden eye for the n64. i hear the Red ring of death poses alot of problems tho. xbox is not cheap to the extent that you pay for “overpriced” accessories and add-on/downloads. for example: i heard the maddden roster updates cost money for the 360 while it’s free on the ps3. and i heard the bigger hard drives for the 360 are a rip off as well. internet is more stable and developed yet u pay 50 bucks a year for it right? 4 years x 50 = 200 bucks. slap that on to the price of the 360 you buy. or slap 250$ for 5 years. 300$ for 6 years.
The wii is not crap. However, wii motion plus should have been here since the beginning. the shooters being “crappy” is such an easy fix that sometimes i wish nintendo would just hire me. the wii makes even cutting onions fun! they really have something there w/ the wiimote technology. they just need to encorporate it slightly better into its games (wii motion plus?)
360 vs ps3- which is a better buy?
when the ps3 first came out, the ps3 was the better buy. Blu-ray, wireless rechargeable remotes right out of the box. wireless internet right out of the box. native 1080p, a powerhouse for graphics, third party hardware compatabilities (a good amount cheaper than the 360 counterparts), a bigger hard drive right out of the box, blue-tooth, backwords compatability. it had EVERYTHING you could ever think of upgrading right out of the box. in otherwords, for the 360 to get on the ps3’s level, i think i calculated it up to be 200-300 plus! more dollars (or more not to mention the blu-ray player itself. and i just edited my article now to include xbox live prices. so it has to be way more than 300).
Even now i would have to say ps3 wins in the “bang for your buck” SOLEY!(spelling?) on the fact of free online play + blu-ray and perhaps harddrive swaps and hardware compatability which can save u a buck.
Fun factor? id have to give it to the 360. the 360 has mostly all the exclusives from the ps3. the joysticks are far superior for first person shooters and i LOVE a good shooter, especially for online play (halo 3, call of duty, battlefield anyone?). the 360 has been flaunted in soooo many movies that its become a cultural icon (not to mention it’s american made-hoorah!) the online, although not free, is more solid.
well….. shoot.
ps3 and 360 are even in my books. there are pro’s and con’s to them both that, to me, i can’t justify one system over the other. and u can take that to the bank.
for the next Gen. hmmm… not sure. ps3 lost ALOT of exclusives. and the 360 with it’s hiden fees. (overpriced accesorries and paying for online). and the wii with its lack of adult hardcore games.
its up in the air.
If things come to push and shove, arguments and fights brakes out. Which i’m totally Not in advocating or endorsing by all means. I’ll probably dumps it all and get back to what i’ve missed all along. My love for reading books and every thing else. This at least i’m learning a few things or two from books. I would rather spends tons of my dollars on books and researches. I’ve tried to be reasonable and be fair. That’s the path i’m willing to take and i don’t care what everyone will thinks of me. Don’t care about xbox 720, 1080, or whatever or ps3 or 4 or 5 or wii 2 or 3 or 4.
